Video Playback Troubleshooting

Video Won’t Play

Check the format

StatSetter supports: MP4, MOV, AVI, MKV, WebM

MP4 with H.264 encoding is the most universally supported. If your file won’t play:

  • Try converting to MP4 H.264 using a free tool like HandBrake
  • Some older codecs (MPEG-2, WMV) aren’t supported by modern browsers

Check the file size

Very large files (2GB+) may take time to load into the browser. Wait for the loading indicator to complete before pressing play.

YouTube videos

YouTube URLs should work directly. If a YouTube video won’t load:

  • Make sure the video is public or unlisted (not private)
  • Check that the URL is correct — try opening it in a new tab first

Playback Speed Issues

Speed stuck on slow motion

If the video defaults to slow playback:

  1. Check the speed control — click to reset to normal speed
  2. Try a different browser (Chrome typically has the best playback support)

Speed controls not responding

Some video formats don’t support variable playback speed:

  • MP4 H.264 — full speed control support
  • WebM VP9 — full support
  • AVI, MKV — may have limited speed control

YouTube speed control

YouTube’s API may restrict playback rate control in some cases. If speed controls don’t work with a YouTube embed, try using a direct video file instead.

Video Stuttering or Freezing

  • Close other tabs — video playback is memory-intensive
  • Lower the zoom level — video zoom above 2× can strain the browser
  • Check your hardware — integrated graphics may struggle with 1080p+ video at high playback speeds
  • Try Chrome — it generally has the best video performance

Timeline Markers Not Showing

If stat markers don’t appear on the video timeline:

  • Make sure you’re viewing the correct set — markers are filtered by set
  • Check that stats have timestamps — stats recorded without video playing won’t have timestamps

Picture-in-Picture Not Working

PiP support varies by browser:

  • Chrome — fully supported
  • Safari — supported
  • Firefox — supported (may need to enable in settings)
  • Mobile browsers — limited PiP support

Still Having Issues?

  • Try clearing your browser cache and reloading
  • Test with a known-good video file (short MP4, H.264)
  • Try a different browser
